PPA # 264 A Sketch Challenge

PPA # 264
PPA # 264

Today I have another Challenge post.  I’m all about Challenges this week.  😉  This is the Paper Players Sketch Challenge # 264.  Above is my interpretation of the sketch.  Here is their sketch….

pp264-A

What do you think?  Did I do a good job?  It’s amazing how much I thrive on positive feedback, and I accept negative too (I just don’t like it as much,  but who does?) .

The card base is Lost Lagoon (one of the 2014-16 In-Colors) with a layer of Sweet Li’l Things DSP and then a layer of Calypso Coral and Very Vanilla.   I stamped the Calypso Coral piece with a stamp from Gorgeous Grunge (probably the most versatile stamp I own) to imitate the lines on the sketch.  They look like sewn lines to me and I just didn’t feel like pulling out the sewing machine!  I stamped the cupcake from Sprinkles of Life stamp set.  The cake part is Delightful Dijon cardstock stamped with Delightful Dijon.  The “frosting” was made with the flower image from the same set and sponged with Watermelon Wonder, Mint Macaron and Crushed Curry.  Then I added a little bit of Silver Dazzling Details to give it sparkle.  I added a button in Lost Lagoon and a little bit of Linen Thread tied around the cupcake and through the button.

Today I’m participating in The Pals Paper Arts Challenge # 269.  Here’s the sketch…

And here is my interpretation…

I used the Butterfly Basics stamp set and the Papillon Potpourri set.  The card base is Wild Wasabi and the background is Rose Red and the half circle is Pink Pirouette.  I stamped the flower bunch from Butterfly Basics on Pink Pirouette in Chocolate Chip and then used my Aqua Painter and Rose Red ink and Garden Green to fill in the images.  The butterflies were stamped on Pink Pirouette with Rose Red, Watermelon Wonder and Blackberry Bliss.

The Thankful banner is from Acorny Thank You set.  I stamped it on Wild Wasabi with Mossy Meadow.  The other two stamps are from the Butterfly Basics set also and I stamped them in Chocolate Chip.

The British are Coming!

The British are Coming! The British are Coming!  Well, not really, but I was asked to make a “British” card with no sentiment by a friend.  I was stumped!  Then my upline, Linda Heller, suggested that I make a Union Jack flag or something with a tea cup.  I thought these were great ideas so I used both!

What do  you think?  Does this look like a Union Jack?  I think it’s probably too square, oh well.  I hope he likes it! I love getting custom orders.  They can be real challenges 😉  Here’s the inside.

FMS 205 Happy Christmas!

Today I’m participating in Freshly Made Sketches challenge #205.

FMS Final 205-001

This is the sketch and here is my interpretation!

FMS #205
FMS #205

Isn’t Santa just the cutest?  I cut him out of the Home for Christmas Designer Series Paper by Stampin’ Up!  I backed him with more paper from the same package and a piece of Very Vanilla.  I cut a little bit of Gold Glimmer paper and used it as the bottom tag.  I tied a bow with Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding Ribbon.

100_4136

I think this card looks like a Christmas package all wrapped up and ready to open on Christmas morning.  🙂  Oh my, Christmas is not that far away!  If you are planning to make your own Christmas Cards, I’d say it’s time to get started.  Luckily for you Stampin’ Up! has some great stamp sets for your Christmas Cards and equally good Designer Series Paper.  You can get them all HERE.

Just “Dropping In to Say Hi”

Oh my word! Did you see the title of the post from yesterday?  It did not match the content AT ALL!  I had started to post about today’s project and changed my mind.  Please forgive me.  Here is today’s project…

Acorny Thank You
Acorny Thank You

Today’s project showcases the Acorny Thank You stamp set from the 2015 Holiday Catalog.  I used the Woodgrain Embossing Folder for the Smokey Slate background.  I trimmed out a small piece from the Sweet Li’L Things Designer Series Paper.  There are trees that are Smokey Slate and some of them are colored, Tangelo Twist and in Pool Party.  So, I stamped the Acorns in these colors.  Then I added some Calypso Coral Seam Binding Ribbon, because it is so close to Tangelo Twist.

Here is a closer view of the bottom of the card and the Acorns.  I added some Silver Dazzling Details to the acorns for a little sparkle.  Can you have enough sparkle?

I hope today’s project inspired you to go and create something sweet for somebody.

“Dropping in to say Hi”

So I have another card today that was made with the retired Painted Petals stamp set and it’s matching Painted Blooms Designer Series paper.  Again, I share these with you as examples of layouts you could use with your current stamp sets, or stamp sets that you can purchase (from me 🙂 ) that have flowers.

Painted Petals

I also used half of a White Tea Lace Paper Dollies under the circle in Whisper White stamped with a flower image from Painted Petals.  I also put a little bit of Wisteria Wonder Seam Binding Ribbon and So Saffron 1/4″ taffeta ribbon (retired).

Here’s another picture.  This card, along with yesterday’s card were part of the package that I gave to my hubby’s friend.  I think his girlfriend will like them when she receives them, they are very feminine.

One more look….

Now, go and use this layout and make a card yourself using the Painted Petals stamp set or another flower set and create something sweet for somebody!
