Happy Guy Greetings Birthday! (And a SALE!)

Happy Guy Greetings Birthday!
Happy Guy Greetings Birthday!

Today I can  share with you the birthday card I made for my husband.  My hubby used to sell shoes (a long, long time ago) and when I saw the shoe image in the Guy Greetings stamp set I knew I’d use it on a card for him.  His birthday was Saturday, the day after we had a huge party for him, our son who is now 30!, and our adopted daughter…whose birthday is next Saturday.

This is the inside of the card.  I used the speckle pattern from Gorgeous Grunge, I think I probably used too much, LOL, but he loved it and that is all that matters.

I used a retired paper, sorry again, but I’ve got such a backlog of it that I’m not sure I can order more because I have no room!

On a strip of Whisper White I stamped the shoe image five times, four in Chocolate Chip and once in Pool Party.  Then I stamped it again on a scrap of Whisper White in pool party and trimmed it out.  Then I attached it to the card with Dimensionals and then I put two Mini Glue Dots on the front and attached two tiny, tiny Linen thread bows to look like shoelaces.

I hope that you enjoyed this card and the stamp set as much as I do.  This set, Guy Greetings, is so great for  all kinds of masculine cards.

The sentiments in this set cover so many reasons for cards, birthday, Father’s Day, Congratulations, and just because! I think this is a great set to have in your stamp library.  You can purchase this set at my online store HERE And today through October 23 (for five days only) all of our stamp sets are 15% off!  This doesn’t include bundles or clearance rack items.  What a deal!  Now, go and get shopping!

Giggle Greetings

Today’s post is all about AGE.  This week my oldest child turned 30!  Now, I’m not nearly old enough to have a child who is 30 years old, I must have had this child when I was just a tot.  😉  But age is just a number right?  LOL  But I had to rag on him a little with his card right?  This image from Giggle Greetings was just perfect for a 30 year old.

I stamped the image twice, once on Very Vanilla and once on Hello Honey.  I trimmed the block of cheese out of the Hello Honey and added it on top of the Very Vanilla image.  Then I used my Aquapainters to color in the candle, flame and add some accents to the plate.  Because my children both went to Florida State University they frequently get cards that are Garnet and Gold and this is no exception.  The card base is Cherry Cobbler (Garnet) and then there is a layer of Hello Honey (Gold). I added a piece of yellow stripes from a retired Designer Series Paper, Sweet Taffy, which is so perfect for celebrations! 100_4188There a tiny sliver of Crumb Cake just to tone all that yellow down.  Since this is going to a guy I kept the embellishments to a minimum by only using Basic Rhinestones.  It was hard, I really wanted to use some ribbon and a pretty bow but I held back.

All of the supplies used in today’s card are available at my online store HERE.  I’ve listed them at the bottom of the page.  I hope you enjoyed today’s card inspired you to create something sweet for somebody!

The other day I shared a card that I had CASEd using the Perfect Pennants stamp set.  Perhaps CASing (Copy And Share Everything) was not explained very well, it’s when you see a card, scrapbook layout or anything you like and copy the way it is put together.  You can use the same stamp set and colors or not.  I didn’t use the same stamp set or colors.  Today’s card is the same layout from the other day.  Here’s another look at that card so you can compare them.

Perfect Pennants
                          Perfect Pennants

You can see the whole post here.  Today’s card is going to be given to someone very special, but this person may see it so I won’t share who it is now.

Look at the two cards, did you see the Pennants across it and the strip across the top?  I love how the first card is so feminine and the other one is really rather masculine.  Good thing it’s going to a guy!  ;0

Here’s a closer view of the anchor image from the Guy Greetings.  This is a GREAT stamp set for masculine cards.  There is such a variety of images from hats to shoes and an anchor and a great “body builder” guy.  That is actually my favorite image, even though at first I thought it was a little kooky, but then I realized that it’s not, it’s fun!  The papers used on this card are from the Farmer’s Market DSP and the small piece of black with the hearts on it is left over from the Hello Life Project Kit.  I’ve told you that I save all of the extra pieces from my kits.  I think the hearts are just perfect for this card because this is going to someone I care deeply about.  The other colors are Basic Black and Hello Honey.

I used a retired (sorry) embossing folder of the large polka dots.  There is a Very Vanilla card base under all of that.

I hope you enjoyed today’s card and will join me again on Monday.  I don’t post on Sundays, it’s family day.

All of the supplies you need to make this card are in my online store and you can find them here.  I’ve listed all of the items used at the bottom of the post.

Now go and create something sweet for somebody!

Happy Anniversary!

Happy Anniversary to my wonderful husband of 35 years!  It’s hard for me to believe it has been that long since I married my high school sweetheart.  He has truly been my anchor.  You know how it is with creative types, we swing from happy to sad to mad in an instant and he’s always there in the middle, helping to steady me.  So I thought it would be appropriate to make him an Anniversary card using the anchor image from Guy Greetings.

I stamped the first anchor in Pacific Point right in the center and then I stamped again around it without re-inking to make a lighter anchor.  I did that in several rows to make a background.  Then I topped it with “You’re My
Anchor” on crumb cake card stock and Chocolate Chip ink.  I added two hearts in Melon Mambo from the Work of Art stamp set.  I also used the speckled pattern from Gorgeous Grunge across the entire piece.   The card itself was made from our Irresistably Yours (retired) embossed paper that I colored with Pacific Point.  I think the striped pattern gives it quite the nautical theme.  Of course no card is truly complete until there is just a little bit of ribbon of some sort, so I added some silver 1/8″ taffeta ribbon.

I had a very patient visitor with me the whole time I was working on this card.  She just sat and watched, occasionally bringing me things to play with but never saying a word.

My visitor was my year and a half old puppy, Honeybelle.  She’s really the most patient and loving dog.  She loves to sit in my craft room with me, but occasionally insists that I stop what I’m doing and play with her.  She loves to play tug of war and fetch, and would do that for an hour or more.  I just love her and her company!  Here’s another look at the card…

Mojo Monday on Tuesday

HI Everybody! Today I have a card for a special gentleman who’s a “classic”.  I used the Mojo Monday sketch # 406 as inspiration and I hope you like it.  You can click here to see what others have done with the sketch.  So many fabulous interpretations.  That is what is so marvelous about using a sketch, one sketch many different designs.  Here’s my rendering. blog post 7.14 pic 1

I used the “Guy Greetings” stamp set from Stampin’ Up!.  Isn’t the car image so classic?  The image comes with small shadows under the tires to ground it but I wanted it to look like it was on a wet road, you know, like they do in most car commericals, so I added some Early Espresso ink with my Aqua Painter to the bottom.  The car was also stamped in Early Espresso and then the edges of the Tip Top Taupe cardstock were brushed with ink using a sponge dauber. blog post 7.14 pic 2I also used a bit of the Farmer’s Market Designer Series Paper on the left side and a bit of Delightful Dijon cardstock under the image and the star.  The star was cut with the smallest  of the Star Framelits.   These are really handy, as all of the framelits are, to quickly make a quick shape on a card, banner, or three dimensional object.  It saves time and fussy cutting too. Here’s another look at the card, I hope you go and stamp or create something today!

Father’s Day…… What a great day to honor your Dad!

Hi!  I’d like to introduce myself, I’m Cathy Wirt, Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator and Paper Artist.  I’m so happy to meet you!  I’m very happy you found your way to my site today and hope you’ll come back often.   My intention is to post several projects for you to be inspired by very week.  That can be an easy way for you to get your creative juices flowing.  I LOVE paper and ink and make a lot of cards, but I also love cutting things with my Silhouette Cameo and making 3D items.  I will occasionally share those too.

Today I have a Father’s Day card for you.  What?! Father’s Day? That was weeks ago!  Yep, but I was on vacation then and I’m just getting the chance to share this with you, so here we go….

Father's Day card for my wonderful husband!
Father’s Day card for my wonderful husband!

Isn’t this gentleman so debonair!  He reminds me of a gentleman from the early 1900’s who is just ready to fight, or perhaps he’s just showing off his muscles for his special lady 😉  Love his mustache!  At any rate, this is a newer one from Stampin’ Up! that is part of the set “Guy Greetings”.  This set comes with 22 stamps that include a cool vintage car and shoes, also some hats and other masculine images.  It also comes with greetings like “Congratulations”,  “Happy Birthday”, “World’s Greatest” (Dad, husband, grandpa, brother, father and uncle) plus more!  There are so many uses for this set it’s amazing.  Sometimes it’s hard to find a perfect image or font for a masculine card and this set really helps in that department.

As for Father’s Day, I don’t have an earthly father anymore, he passed away many years ago when I was young but I do have a husband who is the father to our two children (both young adults).  My hubby has been a great spiritual inspiration for me and our children.  He is a godly man who is well versed in scripture and a leader in our church.  To me, that’s important.  I’m going to share my personal beliefs here and now, but I won’t do it often.  It’s not the main part of this blog but certain subjects lend themselves to speaking about it and my husband and honoring him is one.  I believe in Jesus Christ as my personal savior and I am looking forward to my final homecoming, whenever He calls, I’ll answer and be ready.  I promise, you will not be “beat over the head” with my beliefs on this blog.   My Lord tells me to love everyone.   And for now…I’m going to keep on stampin’ and making cool things with stamps, ink and paper!  How about you?
