PP288 Market Fresh

Well Hello!!!  I bet you thought you’d heard the last from me, right?  Oh No!  I’ve just been extremely busy and focused on other things and I hope to post more often now.

Today, I’m using the Market Fresh stamp set from the Annual Catalog for the card that was inspired by Paper Players 288 sketch.  What a great sketch, so easy to follow and a great way to use up scraps of your Designer Series Paper.  Speaking of DSP, I used the coordinating paper, Farmer’s Market for the front of this card.  The base is Very Vanilla (because that is the neutral color in the Farmer’s Market DSP) and on top of the Very Vanilla I used a piece of Chocolate Chip, then layered the pieces of Farmer’s market.  I also used a small piece of Daffodil Delight for the banner and a piece of Crumb Cake for the circle.

I stamped my image of the “Thanks A Bunch” with the grape bunch in Staz On because I knew I wanted to water color it.  Then  I used Blackberry Bliss, Mossy Meadow and a smidge of Chocolate Chip to color in the image.  I used my Aquapainter to do this, but you could use a regular paint brush dipped in water.   I fussy cut the image out, but you could just use a circle punch or just cut somewhat close to the image.

This card is going to a friend who recent encouraged me through a tough time.  I love this stamp set, it has all these punny sayings on fruit and vegetables.

So Punny!
Market Fresh

Well thanks for stopping by today and I hope you will get the stamp set and make some punny cards for your friends.  I’ll see you  soon!

Jolly Christmas!

Jolly Christmas!
Jolly Christmas!

I know, I know, it’s not even Thanksgiving (next week!) yet, but you also know that we crafters need to start early on our Christmas cards, gifts and decorations, if we are going to get them out before Christmas! LOL  So I’m working here!  I used the Jolly Christmas stamp set for this card today.  I fell in LOVE with this reindeer image when I first saw it and just knew that I’d use gold embossing powder on it.  It stamped beautifully and embossed like a dream.  All of the stamps used on this card are from this set, except the “Silent Night”.  That stamp is from the Wonderland stamp set.

Can you see the shimmer of the embossing?  I framed the Silent Night banner with a small piece from the Home for Christmas DSP then added one of my mom’s gold buttons with a little Cherry Cobbler Baker’s Twine.  I pulled a few of the gold sequins off of the Gold Sequin trim and scattered them around with a little bit of glue from the new Fine Tip Glue Pen.  If you haven’t tried this yet, you need to, the application is truly fine.  Use it sparingly and let it dry for a little while before moving your creation.

The background, or base card, is Tip Top Taupe.  It looks different colors in these pictures, even though I tried to adjust the color but it didn’t quite make it.   You can get all of the products needed for this card (except Mom’s button LOL) from my online store HERE.   This card would be a quick and pretty easy card with a lot of WOW factor.

The card base is Tip Taupe Taupe cut 4 1/4 X 8 1/2.  The Mossy Meadow square is 2 3/4 X 3 and the Very Vanilla where the reindeer is stamped is 2 1/2 X 2 3/4.  The small strip of Home for Christmas DSP is 1″ X 3″ and the Very Vanilla strip is 1/2 ” X 3″.

So what are you waiting for?  Christmas is just around the corner!!! Get to creating something sweet for somebody!

This is the sketch and here is my interpretation!

Isn’t Santa just the cutest?  I cut him out of the Home for Christmas Designer Series Paper by Stampin’ Up!  I backed him with more paper from the same package and a piece of Very Vanilla.  I cut a little bit of Gold Glimmer paper and used it as the bottom tag.  I tied a bow with Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding Ribbon.

I think this card looks like a Christmas package all wrapped up and ready to open on Christmas morning.  🙂  Oh my, Christmas is not that far away!  If you are planning to make your own Christmas Cards, I’d say it’s time to get started.  Luckily for you Stampin’ Up! has some great stamp sets for your Christmas Cards and equally good Designer Series Paper.  You can get them all HERE.

I hope that this inspired you to create something sweet for somebody!

Just “Dropping In to Say Hi”

Oh my word! Did you see the title of the post from yesterday?  It did not match the content AT ALL!  I had started to post about today’s project and changed my mind.  Please forgive me.  Here is today’s project…

Acorny Thank You
Acorny Thank You

Today’s project showcases the Acorny Thank You stamp set from the 2015 Holiday Catalog.  I used the Woodgrain Embossing Folder for the Smokey Slate background.  I trimmed out a small piece from the Sweet Li’L Things Designer Series Paper.  There are trees that are Smokey Slate and some of them are colored, Tangelo Twist and in Pool Party.  So, I stamped the Acorns in these colors.  Then I added some Calypso Coral Seam Binding Ribbon, because it is so close to Tangelo Twist.

Here is a closer view of the bottom of the card and the Acorns.  I added some Silver Dazzling Details to the acorns for a little sparkle.  Can you have enough sparkle?

I hope today’s project inspired you to go and create something sweet for somebody.

Acorny Thank You

So, I’m Nuts About You!  Here is another card from Acorny Thank You stamp set, I hope it inspires you!

Acorny Thank You
Acorny Thank You

This is a simple little card that opens to the side.  I used the Acorny Thank You stamp set and the coordinating Acorn Builder Punch.  This punch is a duel punch, you can either use the full acorn, or just the top.  That makes it so we can have a brown bottom part of the acorn and a green top.   🙂

I must admit I messed up the middle stamp.  Oops!  I didn’t realize it until I took the picture.  But I want you to realize that we can mess up and the card is still great looking and the recipient will love it.

The background paper is from the Farmer’s Market Designer Series Paper pack.  I just love this paper.  I think I’m going to need to purchase more soon!  There is a strip of Tip Top Taupe and Mossy Meadow.  I used some retired yellow ribbon to finish it.  I’m not sure I like where the bow is, what do you think?

Hopefully this card has inspired you to create something sweet for somebody!

Hello You Thinlits

My husband asked me to make some cards for a friend of his so he could send them to his new girlfriend.  His friend wanted them generic and blank inside.  So I sat down and looked at my supplies and thought “I can make all kinds of cards with the wonderful supplies from Stampin’ Up!”  The cards I will share over the next several days were given to my hubby’s friend.   Here is the first one…

Hello You Thinlit dies
Hello You Thinlit dies

I used the “hello” from Hello You Thinlits in Tip Top Taupe and then I used a strip of Calypso Coral and a banner in Calypso Coral and Mossy Meadow with the retired Hearts a Flutter Framelits.   What do you think of the “hello”,  I personally really love the font.  I used our Tombow Multi Liquid Glue in little tiny dots to adhere it to the front of the card.  You could also use the new Fine Tip Glue Pen in the Holiday Catalog, or the Two Way Glue in the Annual Catalog.

Then I added a little embellishment of cork from the retired Sweet Sorbet Accessory Pack.  I really love these colors together and I wish I’d used these cork pieces earlier.  On the sheet they just didn’t look like much but this little piece makes the card, don’t you think?   So, the lesson here is don’t hoard your supplies!  Use them!  🙂  I will confess I tried to use retired products because I won’t be teaching classes on these exact cards, maybe the layout but I won’t need these exact supplies.

Here’s another look…

I hope I inspired you today to use your stash and create something sweet for somebody!

A Sympathy Card

A Sympathy Card
A Sympathy Card

Recently I had a sad occasion, actually several, where sympathy cards were called for.  This particular one was sent to a my friend, a widow whose husband died very unexpectedly one month after retiring.  This situation is so sad.  It reminded me that only the Lord knows when we will be called home and we should work hard everyday to make sure that when we are He has reason to say “Well done my good and faithful servant” to us.

The design of this card was inspired by a gift bag that I saw but there was no name on the picture, so I’m not sure who to credit.  If it is your design, please let me know and I’ll credit you.  I used the Flower Fair Framelets by Stampin’ Up! to cut the flowers and leaves.  Here’s a closer look:

blog post 7.29 pic 2Sorry about the small piece of lint on the blue flower.  I didn’t see it until after I sent the card and then it was too late to take a new picture.  The only stamp on the project is from a retired stamp set called Sincere Salutations, an oldie but a goodie.   The colors used were Pink Pirouette, Calypso Coral, Marina Mist and Pool Party, Daffodil Delight and Hello Honey, Garden Green and Mossy Meadow.

I was able to incorporate a strip of our 1 1/4 Burlap Ribbon and a White Tea Lace Doily. I trimmed the doily down and swished a little bit of Watermelon Wonder along the edge to help it standout against the Very Vanilla background.  Here is another shot of it:

blog post 7.29 pic 3I hope you enjoyed today’s card and if you would like any of the supplies that I used to make the card you can find them all on my Stampin’ Up! website:  sweethoneystampingspot.stampinup.net.

All of the items used on this card (besides the retired stamp) are available on my website.   Now go and make something!
